The License and Franchise Committee has an active relationship with the companies who have municipal franchise agreements with the city of Kankakee.

License and franchise agreements are contracts between private utility companies such as Aqua IL, Republic Services, Nicor Gas, ComEd, AT&T and Comcast, and the city of Kankakee. These companies supply services to the residents of the city in which the city allows the utility companies to use the city’s right of way.  Generally, there is a representative from one of the utility companies in attendance to provide an up-to-date report regarding his/her company and its relationship with the city. These updates allows the city and residents to have current knowledge about services.  In addition,  the public has access to the representatives for Q & A.
